Meet The Founders

Matthew and Lia Wall are the founders of Emerald Developments and proud locals of the North Brisbane area.

Matthew is a Qualified Carpenter with over 18 years of experience in the construction industry, including 13 years as a Company Director. Lia brings 12 years of experience from the corporate private sector, predominantly in Finance and Process Implementation. In 2024, Lia was named Winner of the HIA Queensland Young Achiever/Trailblazer Award and also recognised as a Finalist for the HIA Professional Woman of the Year Award.

Emerald Developments is a proudly family-owned and operated building company, specialising in new and custom residential homes across South-East Queensland and the Wide Bay–Burnett region. Listed among Australian Construction Data’s Top 100 Builders in Queensland, Emerald was founded in April 2020 as an independently owned and funded business, and has delivered over 120 successful projects in just five years. Their craftsmanship is showcased in a stunning Mediterranean-inspired display home at the Kinma Valley Estate, 35 Morinda Circuit, Morayfield.

Matthew, Lia, and their team have built strong relationships with more than 100 industry-leading suppliers and trades, while intentionally limiting their projects to a maximum of 75 per year to ensure every homeowner receives a tailored, high-quality, and efficient service from start to finish.

In 2024, Emerald Developments earned multiple prestigious accolades, including Winner of the HIA Queensland Small Business Management Award, Winner of the HIA Queensland Emerging Builder Award, and Finalist for the HIA Australian Emerging Builder Award. Matthew and Lia were also recognised as Finalists for the Brisbane Young Entrepreneur Awards in both 2023 and 2024 for their leadership at Emerald Developments.

Together, they remain deeply proud of their team and passionate about their contribution to raising the bar in the construction industry.
