Meet The Founders
Matthew and Lia Wall are the founders of Emerald Developments and proud locals of North Brisbane.
Matthew is a Qualified Carpenter with more than 18 years of experience in the construction industry, including 15 years as a Company Director. Lia brings 14 years of experience in the corporate private sector, specialising in finance, business operations and process implementation.
Lia’s contributions to the building industry have been recognised through multiple HIA awards. She was named the 2024 HIA Queensland Young Achiever/Trailblazer of the Year, followed by 2025 HIA Queensland Professional Business Woman of the Year. In 2026, Lia has been selected as a finalist in three HIA Building Women Award categories: Business Development Professional, Business Mentor/Leader, and Industry Contribution.
Founded in April 2020, Emerald Developments is a proudly family-owned and operated residential building company specialising in new and custom homes throughout South East Queensland and the Wide Bay Burnett region. As an independently owned and self-funded business, Emerald has delivered more than 190 homes in just six years and has been recognised as one of Australian Construction Data’s Top 100 Builders in Queensland.
The company’s craftsmanship is showcased through its award-winning Mediterranean-inspired display home, Casa Del Sol, located at 35 Morinda Circuit, Kinma Valley Estate, Morayfield. Winner of the 2025 HIA Queensland Display Home ($550,000 to $700,000), Casa Del Sol reflects Emerald Developments’ commitment to thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship and practical family living.
Matthew, Lia and their team have built long-standing relationships with more than 100 trusted suppliers and trade partners. By intentionally limiting construction to a maximum of 90 homes each year, Emerald ensures every client receives a personalised building experience, exceptional craftsmanship and a high level of service from initial consultation through to handover.
Emerald Developments has received significant industry recognition, including the 2024 HIA Queensland Emerging Builder Award, 2024 HIA Queensland Small Business Management Award, and a Finalist for the 2025 HIA Queensland Professional Medium Builder Award. The business was also recognised nationally as a Finalist in the 2024 HIA Australian Emerging Builder Awards.
